SUPPORTIVE

For the many Greccio residents who come from difficult and/or unstable situations, self-reliance is a viable goal, but one that frequently requires more than just stable housing to become a reality. Greccio seeks to empower its residents to end their participation in the cycle of chronic poverty through our Resident Enrichment Program. Both direct services and referrals are available to Greccio’s residents.

The extensive network of referrals to other agencies can provide education, mental health expertise, child care, job-hunting assistance, substance abuse treatment, and many other specialized services. Direct services offered by Greccio include one-on-one assistance from the Resident Enrichment Manager, in addition to the following services:

The Resident Council provides an opportunity for residents to meet monthly to discuss ideas and concerns that will improve their experience at Greccio and to take on leadership roles.

The E-Center facilitates the Greccio goal of self-reliance by supporting skill development and Internet job searches. Residents use one of two computers located in Greccio’s lobby to access software tutorials, search the Internet for a job, create or update résumés, educate themselves, and hone their computer skills. As they have questions, the Resident Enrichment Manager and office staff are there to assist.

The Residents’ Pantry provides residents with ready access to a variety of donated household items. The inventory ranges from bedroom furniture to kitchen supplies and items for infants and children. As one would expect, this free service has been used primarily by new residents moving into a Greccio property for the first time.

The Resident Services Fund is a relatively new concept at Greccio. It gives the Resident Services Manager discretionary funds which are earmarked for essential services such as the E-Center, and emergency needs such as bus tickets and groceries.

Providing our residents opportunities today for a better life tomorrow.
